1. My Story

Hello! I’m Akil Badi, the solo developer behind SnapConvertor. What began in 2023 as a personal side-project to streamline my own workflow quickly resonated with designers, bloggers and students worldwide. Today, SnapConvertor processes over 2 million images each month—all built, maintained and improved by a single pair of hands (and plenty of coffee!).

2. Mission & Vision

Mission: Make media conversion fast, secure and free for everyone.

Vision: Empower a world where digital creativity is frictionless—no paywalls, no watermarks, no hassle.

3. Core Values

  • User-first simplicity – every extra click is one too many.
  • Privacy by design – files auto-delete within two hours; no peeking.
  • Open knowledge – I publish tutorials and open-source snippets whenever possible.
  • Sustainability – carbon-neutral hosting and efficient serverless functions.

4. How the Tech Works

Conversions run on a distributed AWS + GCP edge network. When you upload an image:

  1. An HTTPS connection routes the file to the nearest node.
  2. In-memory processing (using libvips) converts formats in milliseconds.
  3. The result streams back; the temporary file is wiped and RAM is zero-filled.

This serverless approach means near-zero latency, minimal energy waste and compliance with GDPR/CCPA by keeping data residency local.

Akil Badi

Akil Badi

B.Sc. & M.Sc. in IT, Laravel & Node.js developer, and lifelong tinkerer. I believe great tools should be accessible to everyone—so I build them, maintain them and answer every support email myself.

6. Sustainability & Social Impact

I purchase renewable-energy credits to offset 100% of server emissions. A share of ad revenue funds Tree-Nation reforestation projects—over 3,500 trees planted so far.
